Lapple cards 64 to lead Girls Division

After one round, Alexsandra Lapple of Pinehurst, North Carolina, leads the Girls Division shooting 8-under-par 64. Lapple carded eight birdies and was bogey-free this round. She is coming off of a recent victory at the Harold Varner III Foundation Junior All-Star three weeks ago and looks to add another victory to her resume.

Tied for second are Elizabeth Beek of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and Morgan Smith of Westford, Massachusetts. The pair shot 3-under-par 69 to put themselves in position heading into the second round.

In the Boys Division, Luke Sample of New York, New York, shot a 6-under-par 66 to lead. Sample carded five birdies and one eagle to finish his round in first. The high school junior is committed to Duke University and has one career victory at the 2019 AJGA Junior All-Star at Windsor.

Jake Griffin of Kensington, Maryland, is in second place after shooting a 4-under-par 68. Griffin recorded four birdies and an eagle in the first round to keep himself within striking distance of the leader.
