After round one, Hailey Schalk of Erie, Colorado, is the solo leader in the Girls Division. Schalk shot a 2-under-par 70, which gives her a two stroke lead heading into round two. Schalk carded three birdies and an eagle on the final nine holes.
Ellen Dong of (China) Longwood, Florida, is in second place at even-par 72. Dong tallied three bridies in the round one. Her previous best finish was T2 in the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance. Ashley Liu of Clinton, New Jersey is currently in third at 1-over-par 73.
In the Boys Division there is a three-way tie for first place. Bach Ngo of Frederick, Maryland; Anthony Delisanti of Sanborn, New York; and Shane Lawler of Malvern, Pennsylvania, all shot a 2-over-par 74 in the first round.
The top of the field remains close after the leaders. Carsten Judge of Columbus, Ohio, and Evan Rowane of Erie, Pennsylvania, carded a 3-over-par 75 and are tied for fourth.
