After the first round of the AJGA Preview at Morongo, Sydnie Duvall of Laguna Niguel, California, and Keira Howard Pleasanton, California, lead the Girls Division. Both players carded four birdies each and ended at even-par 72.
Makenzie Cooper of Litchfield Park, Arizona rounded out the top three in the Girls Division with a score of 1-over-par 73.
Connor Reis of Claremont, California, is in the lead of the Boys Division after a solid first round. The 2021 graduate finished the day shooting 5-under-par 67. Reis carded six birdies, including 10 consecutive bogey-free holes.
The rest of the top five is composed of four other golfers. Sam FitzGerald of Mission Viejo, California, finished second at 4-under-par 68. Philippe Yturralde of La Mesa, California, Ryan Gay of Walnut Creek, California, and Dustin Miller of Newport Beach, California, all tied for third with a score of 1-under-par 71.
