Thai finishes the first round with four-stroke lead

Sophie Thai of Los Altos, California, finished the first round with a four-stroke lead on the rest of the Girls Division after shooting a 2-under-par 70. She carded five birdies throughout the round. Thai finished second in the 2020 TaylorMade TP5 Junior All-Star last week. She also finished second in the 2019 adidas Junior All-Star.

Lucy Yuan of San Diego, California, and Audrey Rischer of Columbia, Missouri, finished the round T2 after shooting a 2-over-par 74. Yuan shot four birdies during the round. She won the 2019 Golf Performance Center Junior All-Star. Rischer finished the first round with three birdies. She was the medalist for the 2020 Stan Utley and Mid-America Youth Golf Foundation Junior Chamionship Qualifier.

Over in the Boys Division, Cy Norman of Benton, Illinois, and Daniel Moon of Temple, Texas, finished the first round leading the Boys Division at 3-under-par 69. Norman had five birdies. He finished second at the 2020 AJGA Junior All-Star at Quail Creek presented by City of Robinson. Moon carded three birdies and one eagle. He also finished T7 at the 2020 AJGA Preview at Bentwater.

There is a three-way tie for third in the boys division consisting of Colin Keith of Alamo, California, Noah Holtzman of Wichita, Kansas, and Curtis Da Silva of Monterey, California. They all finished 1-under-par 71.
