After completion of the first round at the AJGA Thunderbird Junior All-Star, Anawin Pikulthong of Gilbert, Arizona, leads the Boys Division. Pikulthong's bogey-free 5-under-par 67 stands alone on top the leaderboard after day one. Pikulthong is a verbal commit to Arizona State University and looking for his first win.
Five other players round out the top five. Calder Overfelt of Newport Beach, California, and Preston DeFriend of Lubbock, Texas, finished the day 3-under-par 69. Ben DeLaRosa of Dallas, Texas, Kush Arora of Pleasanton, California, and Phillip Kench of Del Mar, California, are all three strokes back of Pikulthong at 2-under-par 70.
Emily Lee of Torrance, California, had the low score in the Girls Division at 4-under-par 68. Lee started the day with three birdies on the front nine and the highlight of her day was an eagle on 15.
Following close behind Lee is Harper Edwards of Victoria, Texas, with a score of 3-under-par 69. Kirstin Angosta of Henderson, Nevada, Elina Kuang of Murrieta, California, and Anya Mathur of Scottsdale, Arizona, round out the top three with a score of 1-under-par 71.
