Sanderson leads after first round

After the first round Calen Sanderson of Newtown, Pennsylvania, has a three-stroke lead after shooting 5-under-par 67. Sanderson recorded a bogey-free front-nine and carded six birdies in his round. Sanderson is coming off of a second place finish last week at the Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Sugarloaf presented by Junior Golf Hub.

Tied for second are Joshua Ryan of Norristown, Pennsylvania, Matthew Doyle of Madison, Connecticut, and Colin Summers of Westfield, New Jersey. The trio shot 2-under-par 70.

In fifth place are Luke Sample of New York, New York, and Nathan Drogin of Essex Fells, New Jersey. The pair shot 1-under-par 71.

Eunice Kim of Edgewater, New Jersey sits a-top the Girls Division leaderboard. Kim recorded a four birdie, 1-over-par 73 round to pull ahead of the pack. She is a member of the 2019 AJGA Scholastic Junior All-America Team and has five top-5 finishes.

In solo second place is Angelina Tolentino of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, shooting a 2-over-par 74. Tolentino carded three birdies on the day to put her in good position going into the second round.

Tied for third place are Gio Kim of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, Katherine Lu of Plainsboro, New Jersey, Katie Dzialga of Greenwich, Connecticut, and Tanvi Samayam of Hillsborough, New Jersey, who all shot 3-over-par 75 on the day.
