Matthew NeSmith to host first AJGA tournament

PGA TOUR professional Matthew NeSmith will be hosting his first AJGA tournament at The WildeWood Club in Columbia, South Carolina. NeSmith played in multiple AJGA tournaments as a junior and earned his PGA TOUR card in 2019. This will be The WildeWood Club's first AJGA event and, it will bring in a field of 72 boys and girls (ages 12-19) for 36 holes of stroke play.

Players to watch

Jay Leng Jr of La Jolla, California
Leng is a 2024 graduate but already has six AJGA top-10 finishes. In his last six events, he finished top-10 in half of them. He earned his first win at the 2019 Explore Lompoc Preview at La Purisma. Currently, he is No. 94 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Sihan Sandhu of Ahsburn, Virginia
Sandhu's career with the AJGA began in 2018. Since his start, he has earned eight top-10 finishes and four top-5 finishes. The 2024 graduate is coming off a recent win where he got his first title at the AJGA Junior Open presented by VisitFayettevilleNC.com. He is currently ranked No. 102 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Brooke Rivers of Ontario, Canada
Rivers has four top-5 performances in her career and placed second at her last event, the 2020 Callaway Golf Junior Classic. She won her first event at the 2019 Coca-Cola Junior Championship at Boyne Highlands where she shot 68-70-73--211. Coming in at No. 67 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, she is the highest ranked girl in the field.

Julie Shin of Brambleton, Virginia
Shin is poised to earn her first AJGA win with seven top-10 finishes under her belt. She placed top-5 in two of her last five events, and her best performance came in 2020 at The First Tee of Greater Baltimore Junior Championship where she finished second with a score of 71-72-35-37--215.
