Koo comes out strong in first round

Jasmine Koo of Cerritos, California, finished her day 4-under-par 67 putting her in the lead after one day of play. Koo tallied five birdies including one on her last hole to help grab the top spot on the leaderboard.

Two other juniors round out the top three. Kelly Xu of Claremont, California, and Dianna Lee of San Diego, California, both finished the day 3-under-par 68. Both juniors had an impressive day carding eleven birdies between the both of them.

Benjamin Hong of Brea, California, and Adam Miller of Phoenix, Arizona, lead the Boys Division with a score of 3-under-par 68. Hong's highlight for the day came on an eagle on the fifteen hole. Miller's highlight would be the five-straight birdies he had between holes twelve and sixteen.

There are four other juniors that round off the top five. Carson Kim of Fullerton, California, Mahanth Chirravuri of Chandler, Arizona, Daniel Kim of Mukilteo, Washington, and Daniel Choi of Keller, Texas, all shot 2-under-par 69.
