Logan Vargas of Lubbock, Texas and Ryder Cowan of Edmond, Oklahoma, both carded scores of 2-under-par 70 to tie for the lead in the Boys Division after day one. Vargas ended with four birdies while Cowan carded one eagle and three birdies to finish on top.
Will King of Olathe, Kansas, and Holden Webb of Shreveport, Louisiana, are tied for third at 1-under-par 71. Rounding out the top five at even-par 72 are Kameron Shaw of Salina, Kansas, and Simon McBride of Paragould, Arkansas.
