Foster shoots 5-under-par to take Boys Division lead after round one

Saithip leads the Girls Divsion at 3-under-par

With five birdies and an eagle in the first round, Matthew Foster of Dallas, holds a two-stroke lead in the Boys Division. Foster carded just two bogeys in his first 18 holes to shoot a first-round low score of 5-under-par 66. Foster had five birdies and an eagle.

Behind Foster, Grant Doggett of Beach City, Texas, sits at 3-under-par 68. Doggett also carded an eagle on No. 14 to help cap off his strong day. Rounding out the top three are six juniors who sit tied at 2-under-par 69:

In the Girls Division, Thitaporn Saithip of (Thailand) Bradenton, Florida, began her attempt to win back-to-back AJGA events with a 3-under-par 68. Saithip carded four birdies to just one bogey and was bogey-free on the entire back nine. Saithip recently won the Three Little Birds Memorial AJGA Open on June 23.

In second, Kate Bennett of McKinney, Texas, had a strong back nine with four birdies and sits at 2-under-par 69. In solo-third place, Surapa Janthamunee of Phuket, Thailand, balanced five bogeys with five birdies to sit at even-par 71 through the first round.
