Looney sprints out of the gates to lead Boys Division

After playing in the qualifier for the AJGA Junior All-Star at Shirkey, Carson Looney of Bethesda, Maryland, was able to shoot an impressive 5-under-par 66 in the first round of the tournament. The difference for Looney was the making of seven more birdies during round one compared to the Qualifier. The member of the Class of 2025 made birdies on four of his final six holes to bring him to the top of the Boys Division leaderboard entering day two.

Jack Mulligan of Burr Ridge, Illinois, is in second with an opening round of 4-under-par 67. Mulligan kept a clean card with four birdies to zero bogeys. Chance Rinkol of Leawood, Kansas, and Shiv Parmar of Selma, Texas, also find themselves under par after day one following rounds 2-under-par 69 and 1-under-par 70 respectively. Rounding out the top five, Alex Long of (Canada) Lakewood Ranch, Florida, Aiden Cudney of Appleton, Wisconsin, Finn Burkholder of The Woodlands, Texas, and Josua Ince of (Canada) Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, find themselves tied following rounds of even-par 71.

In the Girls Division, Jessica Guiser of Hartland, Wisconsin, and Siuue Wu of (Hong Kong) Champions Gate, Florida, sit tied for first at 1-under-par 70 after the first 18 holes of the tournament. The duo are the only golfers in the Girls Division to be under par after the first round. Guiser made birdie on her final hole of the day to get herself into the red. Wu was able to make birdies on holes Nos. 11 and 13 to kick start her second nine.

Asia Young of Bend, Oregon, rounds out the top three in the Girls Division following a round of 1-over-par 72
