Young goes low on moving day to lead after 36

After an opening round of 1-over-par 72, Asia Young of Bend, Oregon, carded a 3-under-par 68 second round. Young's score set a Shirkey Golf Course tournament record among women. Starting on hole No. 10, Young made birdies on her first four holes of the day. She would then go on to make a hole-in-one to grow her lead even more. She carded the ace on the 156 yard, par 3 No. 2 with a 5-iron. The member of the Class of 2027 is seeking her first career AJGA victory and will carry a two stroke lead into the final round. She is 2-under-par 140 for the tournament.

Jessica Guiser of Hartland, Wisconsin, is the closest to the top, sitting in second at even-par 142 for the tournament. Rounding out the final pairing in the Girls Division for the last 18 holes of the tournament will be Siuue Wu of (Hong Kong) Champions Gate, Florida, who finds herself at 1-over-par 143 and in third place after the second round.

In the Boys Division, Leawood, Kansas, native Chance Rinkol tied the low round of the day for the boys with a 1-under-par 70. An eagle on the par 5 No. 6 moved the member of the Class of 2024 from over par on his round, into red figures. Rinkol leads by one at 3-under-par 139 for the tournament and is eyeing his first AJGA victory.

First Round leader Carson Looney of Bethesda, Maryland, sits one back at 2-under-par 140 for the tournament following a second round where he carded a 3-over-par 74. Jack Mulligan of Burr Ridge, Illinois, sits in third and will join Rinkol and Looney in the final group of the tournament. He is the last player under par in the Boys Division at 1-under-par 141 through 36 holes. Shiv Parmar of Selma, Texas, has been steady at even-par 142 through two days and is in fourth place. Rounding out the top five is Ian Friederichs of Rochester, Minnesota, and Alex Long of (Canada) Lakewood Ranch, Florida, sit tied at 1-over-par 143.
