Shea leads Boys Division by one stroke

Steven Shea of Charlotte, North Carolina, leads the Boys Division after one round of play at 4-under-par 68. Shea had four birdies in the round, including back to back birdies on No. 14 and No. 15. The 2023 graduate will be seeking his first career AJGA victory this week.

Charlie Bundy of Bethesda, Maryland, is currently in second place after shooting 3-under-par 69. Matvey Golovanov of (Russian Federation) Boca Raton, Florida, is in sole third place after shooting 1-under-par 71.

Ethan Paschal of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Owen Kose of Holly Springs, North Carolina, Will Baker of Statham, Georgia, Jonathan Honeywell of Whispering Pines, North Carolina, Alexander Maloy of Potomac, Maryland, and John Logan of Wilmington, North Carolina, are all tied at fourth place after shooting even-par 72 in the first round.

Sydney Yermish of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, is the Girls Division leader after the first round at 5-under-par 67. Yermish ended her round with an eagle on No. 16, followed by back-to-back birdies on No. 17 and No. 18 to take the Girls Division lead. Yermish is coming off a second place finish at the 2021 Imperial Headwear Junior Classic. The 2023 graduate will be seeking her first career AJGA victory.

Vania Simont of CDMX, Mexico, finished her round in second place after shooting 4-under-par 68 in the round. She had six birdies in the first round. Thienna Huynh of Lilburn, Georgia, sits in third place after shooting 2-under-par 70 in the round. She had four birdies in the round.
