Tang started out strong with four birdies on her first four holes of the day, leading to an opening nine of 6-under-par 30. The round for the member of the Class of 2023 was the lowest of her AJGA career, beating her previous best of 69. Tang will hold a six stroke lead entering the second round.
Yingzhi Zhu of (China) Austin, Texas, is in second following a round one score of 2-under-par 70. Zhu recorded three birdies on her round. Alice Ziyi Zhao of (China) Irvine, California, and Lauren Sung of Palo Alto, California, round out the top three following rounds of 1-under-par 71.
