Keith goes low in round one

Vo and Talley share lead in Girls Division

Cameron Keith of Alamo, California, got off to a fast start during round number one, finishing with a 6-under-par 64. The Class of 2022 member carded eight birdies on his first 18 holes of the day to just two bogeys, which included a stretch of three straight birdies on hole No. 10, No. 11 and No. 12. He leads by one stroke entering round two.

Just off the lead with a 5-under-par 65 is Fresno, California, native Aidan Tran, who had six birdies on his opening round. Jackson Koivun of San Jose, California, William Walsh of San Mateo, California, and Justin Hopkins of Danville, California, round out the top-5 with scores of 4-under-par 66, 2-under-par 68, and 1-under-par 69 respectively.

After 18-holes of play in the Girls Division, local resident Natalie Vo of San Jose, California and Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, sit tied atop the leaderboard with matching scores of even-par 70. The 17-year-old Vo, who has signed a National Letter of Intent to the University of Colorado, used two back nine birdies to finish her round with a share of the lead. Vo's score was equaled by the 12-year-old Talley, who is making her AJGA debut this week. Talley made three birdies on the day, including one to finish her round on No. 18.

Vunnisa Vu of Clovis, California, Cynthia Zhang of Milpitas, California, and Ka Hei Kong of Arcadia, California, are all T3 after a 1-over-par 71 round.
