Moody finishes round one with back-to-back birdies

Dobson and Walker tied at 2-under-par

In the Boys Division, Isaac Moody of LaGrange, Kentucky, carded five birdies and an eagle in his first round to shoot a 5-under-par 67. Moody birdied holes No. 8 and 9 to grab the lead and end his day on a high note. Moody is a 2023 graduate looking for his first career AJGA victory.

Following Moody are John Wild of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Logan Kim of La Canada Flintridge, California, who are both tied for second at 4-under-par 68. Wild carded a bogey-free round and Kim carded six birdies. Sitting in fourth place is Christian Rischer of Columbia, Missouri, at 3-under-par 69. Rounding out the top five at 2-under-par 70 is Will Simpson of Pella, Iowa.

Sitting in a tie for first place in the Girls Division are Addie Dobson of Jacksonville, Illinois, and Melanie Walker of Burke, Virginia, at 2-under-par 70. Dobson carded five birdies on the day and Walker carded four with a bogey-free back nine. Both juniors are 2022 graduates.

Finishing in third place in the Girls Division is Olivia Duan of Cupertino, California, at 1-under-par 71. Duan carded four birdies in the first round.
