Snyder, Chong increase leads in Tucson

Snyder is seeking his second victory in as many weeks

Mason Snyder of Las Vegas, continued his streak of good golf with a 7-under-par 65 in the second round. Starting on the par-5 10th, Snyder carded five birdies over his first nine holes. This came on the heels of a first round score of 6-under-par 66. In total, he sits at 13-under-par 131 and will have the 36-hole lead for the second straight week, this time by six strokes. Snyder is looking to secure his second win in as many weeks after winning the AJGA Lake Las Vegas Junior last week.

Baron Szeto of Moraga, California, posted a 3-under-par 69 during his second round to move into solo second for the tournament at 7-under-par 137. Rylan Johnson of Gilbert, Arizona; Jackson Norwich of El Paso, Texas; Brady Siravo of Sacramento, California; Vincent Cervantes of Chandler, Arizona; Noah Kent of Naples, Florida, and Charlie Palmer of Phoenix, are T3 at 5-under-par 139.

Kylie Chong of Torrance, California, had a strong day once again. Following a 7-under-par 65 during round one, she was able to card a 4-under-par 68 on day two, moving to 11-under-par 133 for the tournament. Chong started on No. 10 and was able to record four straight birdies as she made the turn on Nos. 16, 17, 18, and 1. She will carry a four-shot lead into the final round.

Vunnisa Vu of Clovis, California, once again finds herself in second place behind Chong. Vu posted a second round score of 3-under-par 69 to get to 7-under-par 137 for the tournament. Mattison Frick of Peoria, Arizona, posted the round of the day in the Girls Division with a 6-under-par 66, which included two eagles. That round vaulted her into third at 5-under-par 139 for the tournament.
