Byrd leads the Boys Division in first career AJGA start

Song leads the Girls Division after first-round of #NeSmithJr

Jackson Byrd of Saint Simons Island, Georgia, leads the Boys Division by one stroke after shooting 1-under-par 70 in the first round. Byrd ended his round with four birdies. Byrd started his round by birdieing two of his first three holes at the Forest Lake Club. This is Byrd's first career AJGA start.

Adam Hunt of Columbia, South Carolina, Will Jones of Alpharetta, Georgia, Josh Newman of Charlotte, North Carolina, Patmon Malcom of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Charles Cauthen of Columbia, South Carolina, are all tied for second place after shooting even-par 71. The players combined for 16 birdies on the round. All of these players are seeking their first career AJGA victories.

Cindy Song of Waxhaw, North Carolina, leads the Girls Division after one round of play at 2-under-par 70 . Song made two birdies on the round and recorded a bogey-free back-nine. The 2023 graduate has three top-10 finishes on the year including her most recent finish at the Sam Burns Classic at The Landings Club where she placed solo fourth. Song will be seeking her her first career AJGA victory.

Thanana Kotchasanmanee of Chiangmai, Thailand, is in solo second after finishing her first round at even-par 70. Kotchasanmanee had four birdies in the round, including two birdies in her last three holes to take the solo second place position. The 2025 graduate finished in second place in the #NeSmithJr Qualifier to compete in her first ever AJGA event.

Elizabeth Rudisill of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Julie Shin of Brambleton, Virginia, are currently tied for third place in the Girls Division after shooting 1-over-par 73 in the first round. Rudisill ended her round with a birdie on No. 18 to move into a tie for third place. The 2025 graduate is looking her second AJGA victory of the year after winning the AJGA Junior at Oldfield in June. Shin had an up and down round, but led the Girls Division with five birdies in the round. Shin, who won the #NeSmithJr Qualifier, is looking for her second win in the past three weeks after winning the Sam Burns Classic at The Landings Club on July 19th.
