Rianne Malixi maintains lead in AJGA debut

For the second straight day, Rianne Malixi of (Philippines) San Bernardino, California, finds herself out in front in the Girls Division. Malixi backed up her opening round 67 with a 3-under-par 69 to move two shots ahead after 36 holes. Malixi's second round included four total birdies, each of the back-to-back variety. The 14-year-old, who is playing in her first ever AJGA event this week, gained entry into the field by virtue of earning Qualifier Medalist Honors.

Bridget O'Keefe of Palo Alto, California, is Malixi's closest pursuer coming in at 6-under-par 138 through two rounds. In third place with a 2-under-par 142 is Xin (Cindy) Kou of (China) Valenica, California.

In the Boys Division, Taewoo Yu of (South Korea) Murrieta, California, emerged from a cluttered leaderboard to take a one shot lead with 18 holes remaining. Yu fired a second round score of 1-under-par 71, making two birdies to just one bogey on the day. Yu sits at 5-under-par 139 through 36 holes.

Ryan Abuan of Temecula, California is in second place at 4-under-par 140. Go Nakatsukasa of (Japan) San Diego, California, is in third at 3-under par 141. While in fourth is defending champion, Connor Williams at 2-under-par 142.

Four players are currently in a tie for fifth at 1-under par 143: Guillermo Antonio Polo Bodart of (Argentina) Mar del Plata, California, Lequan Wang of (China) San Mateo, California, JP Odland of Tiburon, California, and Joey Hayden of Dublin, California.
