Saithip leads Girls Division by six strokes heading into the final round

Thitaporn Saithip of (Thailand) Bradenton, Florida, leads the Girls Division after posting a 2-under-par 70 in the first and second rounds on Tuesday. Saithip had all five of her birdies on the front nine in the first round and had two birdies in the second round to finish her day at 4-under-par 140. She currently has a six-stroke lead heading into the final round. Saithip is looking for her first AJGA victory.

Natalie Cao of Sugar Land, Texas, Ellen Dong of (China) Longwood, Florida, and Julie Shin of Brambleton, Virginia, are tied for second at 2-over-par 146 after the first two rounds of play. The three players combined for 18 birdies in the first two rounds.

Cao shot 3-over-par 75 in the first round and 1-under-par 71 in the second round to finish at 2-over-par 146.

Dong shot 1-under-par 71 in the first round and 3-over-par 75 in the second round to finish at 2-over-par 146.

Shin shot even-par 72 in the first round and 2-over-par 74 to finish at `2-over-par 146.

Drew Carlin of Ashburn, Virginia, leads the Boys Division after a 2-over-par 74 first round and a 1-under-par 71 in the second round to finish at 1-over-par 145. Carlin had six birdies on the day. He was able to capture the lead with a birdie putt on No. 17 to break the tie. Carlin is currently holding a one-stroke lead heading into the final round. He will be seeking his first AJGA victory tomorrow.

Bennett Espenshade of Baltimore, Maryland, trails Carlin by one stroke heading into the final round. Espenshade shot 6-over-par 78 in the first round but bounced back with a 4-under-par 68 in the second round to post the lowest round of the day and get to 2-over-par 146 for the tournament. Espenshade finished his last four holes with two eagles on No. 15 and No. 18.

Ronnie Kim of Olney, Maryland and Paulius Malcius of Lemont, Illinois, are two shots behind Carlin in a tie for third. Kim shot 5-over-par 77 in the first round and 2-under-par 70 in the second round finishing at 3-over-par 147. Malcius shot 1-over-par 73 in the first round and 2-over-par 74 to match Kim.

Josh Duangmanee of Fairfax, Virginia, and Gabe Post of Southlake, Texas, are T5 heading into the final round. The two players shot 4-over-par 76 combining for 11 birdies between both rounds.

The final round of play will tee off at 7:00 a.m.
