The AJGA Dana Incorporated Junior Open received the 2021 Charitable Giving Award after donating $113,000 to charity. The tournament has received an award each year since making its debut in 2019.

Previous honors include the 2019 Newcomer of the Year and the 2020 Open Tournament of the Year.

AJGA tournament awards annually recognize the events with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament, charitable giving and volunteer base. Awards are also given to the events with the highest media and social media participation. Finally, the AJGA recognizes the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent and general manager, as well as the game-changing tournament, best new event, best Junior All-Star tournament, best Invitational and Open Tournament of the Year.

With more than 120 tournaments on the AJGA schedule, the Charitable Giving Award is one of the greatest honors bestowed upon a tournament.

The committee is honored that once again the Dana Incorporated Junior Open was recognized by the AJGA for raising dollars in support of charities that provide such important services.

Tournament proceeds are donated to the Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant and the Special Olympics - Lucas County. Since the first edition of the tournament in 2019, the AJGA Dana Incorporated Junior Open has contributed more than $283,000 to these causes.

These donations pave the way for junior golfers who aspire to earn a college golf scholarship through competitive junior golf, as well as children and adults with intellectual disabilities who seek opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

One of the most successful AJGA tournaments in recent memory, the AJGA Dana Incorporated Junior Open continues to set the bar from charitable giving to tournament experience.

Being recognized with three consecutive honors – including the 2021 Charitable Giving Award – is a demonstration of the level of commitment we have received from the Sylvania Country Club and its members, our volunteers, and the many organizations that support our tournament. We wouldn’t have this level of success without their support. We are excited to continue building a strong and competitive tournament and are looking forward to the next edition in July.
