Angela Zhang takes three stroke lead after first round of #StacyLewisInv

Fayetteville, AR - Angela Zhang of Bellevue, Washington, leads the first round of the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational at 3-under-par 69. The 2027 grad holds a three stroke lead in the Girl's Division.

The KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational begun on Monday, June 13, at Blessings Golf Club. The 56 player field features an even split between boys and girls. The unique stroke-play event features mixed pairings of boys and girls. The 12-15 year-olds competing include 33 past AJGA champions and 13 players ranked in the top-100 of the Rolex AJGA Rankings.

Zhang started the day off on the wrong foot with a bogey on No. 1 but had a quick recovery with a birdie on No. 2. With another bogey on No.5, Zhang fought hard to stay close with the girl leaders. The Washington native closed out the front nine with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 8 and 9. With five consecutive pars on the back nine, Zhang would go on to birdie Nos. 15 and 16, and close out the back with two more pars to finish 3-under-par 69.

The 13-year-old was named a 2021 Rolex Junior All-American and sits at No. 54 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. With three finishes as runner-up in 2021, Zhang is seeking her first AJGA win this week.

Three strokes behind Zhang in solo second is Siuue Wu of (Hong Kong) Reunion, Florida, at even-par 72. The 2024 grad carded five birdies during her first round.

Amelie Phung of Forest Hills, New York, sits four strokes from the leader in third at 1-over-par 73.

Whit Bartlett of Austin, Texas, leads the Boys Division at the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational at 1-under-par 71 after the first round.

In just the 15-year-old's third AJGA event he leads by two stroke and is chasing after his first AJGA win. The 2025 grad started the round on a good note after carding par on No.1 and back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2 and 3. With his first bogey of the day on No. 4, Bartlett bounced back with two birdies on Nos. 5 and 9 to close out the front nine. The Texas native would go on to bogey Nos. 11, 12, and 14 but finish the round strong with a birdie on No. 15 and three consecutive pars.

Two strokes behind Bartlett in second are three juniors that share the score of 1-over-par 73. They include Eric Zhao of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Patmon Malcom of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Brooks Simmons of Dallas, Texas. The three boys combined for eight birdies for the day.

In the Girls vs. Boys Challenge, the Girl's Division leaders claim the lead after the first round at a total of even-par 288 while the boy leaders sit two strokes back at 2-over-par 290.

The second round of the KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational will continue tomorrow with tee times from 7:30-9:27 a.m. off Blessings Golf Clubs Nos. 1 and 10 tees.
