Tequesta, Florida – Chase Kyes of Birmingham, Alabama, Benjamin James of Milford, Connecticut, and Jack Roberts of Saint Myers, Georgia, shot 1-under-par 69 to lead the Team TaylorMade Invitational after the first round.

The Team TaylorMade Invitational is part of a rich history of events including the AJGA Simplify Boys Championship at Carlton Woods, Wyndham Invitational presented by Truist, and The Junior PLAYERS Championship. This event, and the Jack Burke Jr. Invitational, debuted in 2021 and are the first two AJGA boys stroke play Invitationals added to the schedule since 2007.

Kyes put together the first 69 of the day with four birdies on the front nine, adding another on the back to go along with four bogeys. No. 124 in the Rolex AJGA rankings, Kyes is playing in his second Team TaylorMade Invitational. The 2025 high school grad has four AJGA top-5 finishes, including two AJGA wins in 2020.

“This is probably the nicest golf course I’ve ever played,” Kyes said. “It was really tough out there today so it was great to see some red numbers. I’m going to look to start off a lot better tomorrow to give myself more chances.”

James is no stranger to the Team TaylorMade Invitational as he won the inaugural event in 2021. The 2022 grad carded three birdies on the day enroute to his spot at the top of the leaderboard. Ranked No. 2 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, James will attend the University of Virginia to play college golf in the fall. James is coming off a 2021 campaign which saw him win three AJGA Invitationals.

“I drove the ball well today and had everything working for me,” James said. “It’s going to be a battle out here the next few days and you have to be on the top of your game.”

Roberts is playing in his first Team TaylorMade Invitational and just his fourth AJGA tournament. No. 9 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, he put together four birdies on the day. The 16-year-old has moved quickly up the Rolex AJGA Rankings after top finishes at the Jones Cup Junior Invitational and the Dustin Johnson World Junior.

“Out here shooting even-par is right where you need to be,” Roberts said. “It is definitely a challenge but it’s a fun challenge and I’m excited to be in this position and compete at this level.”

Sitting in solo fourth place at even-par 70 is the No. 1 player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Nick Dunlap of Northport, Alabama. In a tie for fifth place are Carson Kim of Fullerton, California, and Will Baker of Statham, Georgia, at 1-over-par 71.

The Team TaylorMade Invitational field features 43 former AJGA champions, 22 Rolex Junior All-Americans, and 11 of the top 20 boys in the current Rolex AJGA Rankings at tradition-rich Jupiter Hills Club.

The second round of the Team TaylorMade Invitational continues Sunday, May 29 from 7:30-9:20 a.m. off Nos. 1 and 10.
