Singles Match Results

Plymouth, MA - The 32nd Wyndham Cup is officially in the books and the West team wins their 17th by a score of 31to 19. The East team made a run during the singles matches winning ten matches and halving three of them.

The 31 to 19 win by the West is the largest margin of victory by the crew in blue since 2006 when they won by the same margin at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Since 1990, the Wyndham Cup has brought together 40 of the country’s top junior golfers (20 males and 20 females) in an East versus West team match play tournament. In addition to featuring some of the world’s best junior golfers annually, the Wyndham Cup is known for its iconic host venues. A list that features Old Sandwich Golf Club, Mayacama Golf Club, The Stanwich Club, and Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge.

Old Sandwich Golf Club plays host in 2022 for the fourth time since 2010. Notable alumni who competed in the Wyndham Cup at Old Sandwich include two-time Major champion Collin Morikawa, 15-time PGA TOUR champion Justin Thomas, NCAA Women's Division 1 Individual golf champions Rose Zhang and Rachel Heck, and 4-time PGA TOUR winner Sam Burns.

2022 marks the fourth time that the West team won at Old Sandwich Golf Club. They have swept the four times the event has been hosted here.

The West won seven of the 20 matches and tied three of them. The largest margin of victory by a West team member came in match 2 where Leigh Chien of Irvine, California, beat Thienna Huynh of Lilburn, Georgia, 7 & 5.

Wyatt Plattner of Sarasota, Florida, won a point for the East in match 15 over Jacob Sosa of Austin, Texas, 6 & 5. This was the East's largest margin of victory in a match today.

The matches that went the distance and halved on No. 18 include:

  • 2024 graduate Nicholas Gross of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and graduated senior Jase Summy of Keller, Texas
  • all-senior match-up between Western Kentucky University signee, Sydney Hackett of Ashburn, Virginia, and Princeton University signee, Catherine Rao of Camarillo, California
  • Gianna Clemente of Warren, Ohip, and Kelly Xu of Claremont, California

The biggest upset of the day came in the final match where Katie Li of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, upset Augusta National Women's Amateur Champion, Anna Davis, of Spring Valley, California, 6 & 5.
