Houston, Texas – Supapon Amornchaichan of Bangkok, Thailand, leads the first round of the Jack Burke Jr. Invitational at 2-under-par 69. The 2024 graduate has a one-stroke lead on a close leaderboard.

The 3rd Jack Burke Jr. Invitational got started on Wednesday at Champions Golf Club. The 72-player field features 28 college commits, 30 players ranked in the top-100 of the Rolex AJGA Rankings, and 50 AJGA champions.

The field hails from 24 different states and six foreign countries. There are 9 players at even-par or better after the first round.

Amornchaichan played a quality round of golf that was highlighted by a bogey-free front nine and two birdies on the back nine. His stellar round of 2-under-par 69 was enough for a one-shot lead. The No. 58 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, is looking for his first ever AJGA invitational win.

My round went pretty great, especially making more birdies than last tournament, makes me feel more comfortable for the next round.
