Playing 100 consecutive holes of golf sounds like an unimaginable task even for a veteran golfer. However, not for AJGA junior Nick Werner (2025).

The morning following Memorial Day earlier this spring, Werner began his near 13-hour hike at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas, Pennsylvania, in an effort to raise funds towards the Alzheimer's Association with an initial goal set at $2,000. As of July, donations orchestrated by the 16-year-old sit just shy of $8,500.

Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia that distorts cognitive tasks such as thinking, memory and behavior. Werner's grandfather, Robert (Bob) Ashton, suffers from the disease and is his inspiration to support Alzheimer's Association. Across the United States approximately 6.7 million Americans are living with the disease.

"I wanted to do something that could help people like him, and so I decided to play 100 holes of golf."

Werner also said that his grandfather was the one who introduced him to the game of golf and taught him how to hold a club, so it was only fitting for the Pennsylvania native to dedicate an entire day to playing at his home course.

Accompanied by his father Joe, Werner teed off at about 5:15 a.m., his sights set on shooting less than 10-over-par through 100 holes. Twenty-nine birdies later, Werner sank his last putt and finished his quest at 19-under-par around 6 p.m.

Looking ahead at the schedule, Werner is currently set to compete in the AJGA Atlanta Classic presented by UHY from August 17-20.
