Johns Island, SC. – For the 32nd year of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, the top-ranked female junior golfers in the world are brought together to compete over 72 holes in this quintessential Invitational.
The 2023 field for this all-girls event features 72 well-accomplished and title-holding junior golfers. There are 32 Rolex Junior All-Americans in the field and 11 juniors with more than three AJGA victories. The field includes four seniors from the class of 2023, 29 players from the class of 2024, 23 sophomores from the class of 2025, seven freshmen (class of 2026), six eighth graders (class of 2027), and one seventh grader in the class of 2028.
As of June 17, there are eight of the top 20 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings in the field. There are three in the top 10 including: No. 3 Yana Wilson, No. 4 Alice Ziyi Zhao, and No. 9 Leigh Chien.
Field Summary:
Yana Wilson of Henderson, Nevada (Class of 2026)
Wilson is No. 3 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and has verbally committed to University of Oregon. She became a Rolex Junior All-American in 2021 and has earned 10 top-10 AJGA finishes since 2019. She holds three AJGA titles with her most recent championship being the inaugural Mizuho Americas Open this year where she played alongside LPGA Tour pros. This will be Wilson's third year participating in the Rolex Girls Junior Championship where she finished T14 in 2022 and T6 in 2021.
Alice Ziyi Zhao of Irvine, California (Class of 2023)
Zhao holds the No. 4 spot on the AJGA Rolex Rankings and is a two-time Rolex Junior All-American. At the age of 14, Zhao holds four AJGA titles and earned 18 top-10 AJGA finishes in the last three years. Her most recent victory was last year at KPMG Stacy Lewis Junior All-Star Invitational. This year will be her second time participating at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship where she finished ninth in 2022 at the age of 13.
Leigh Chien of Irvine, California (Class of 2024)
Leigh occupies the No. 9 spot on the Rolex AJGA Rankings as a three-time Rolex Junior All-American and verbal commit to Stanford University. She has competed in 28 AJGA events earning herself four AJGA championships with 12 top-10 AJGA finishes in five years. She returns to the Rolex Girls Junior Championship for the first time since 2021.
