Palm City, Fla. – The UNIQLO / Adam Scott Junior Championship has been named the recipient of the American Junior Golf Association’s 2022 Media Award.
The event in its first year brought together PGA TOUR professional Adam Scott and his long-time clothing sponsor UNIQLO to host their first ever AJGA event. The 2022 event was contested at River Ridge Golf Club - Victoria Lakes Course in Oxnard, California.
The four-day event culminated with Adam Scott being onsite for the final round. Scott started his day onsite starting the lead Boys Division group off No. 1, including Australian exemption and eventual Champion of the event, Jeffrey Guan. Later that day, the field got the opportunity to interact with Adam once their round concluded at a clinic on the driving range. The Masters Champion also awarded trophies to the Boys Division top-5 and Girls Division top-3 at the conclusion of play.
Social content throughout the week was posted with the hashtag #UNIQLOAdamScottJr so media outlets could join the conversation and interact with the AJGA. Media outlets including GolfWeek , the PGA TOUR , UNIQLO Ambassadors , Sports Business Journal , Amateur Golf and Golf Australia covered the event on their websites and social media. Many international Asian media entities also covered the event for audiences around the globe.
Champions of the inaugural event were Frances Kim of Rolling Hills Estates, California, and fellow Australian Jeffrey Guan. Guan went on to compete on the International Junior Presidents Cup team the following fall in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he got to reconnect with tournament host, Scott, at the Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow.
The 2023 event jumps to the east coast where Hammock Creek Golf Club in Palm City, Florida, will host the event May 25-28. Adam Scott will be onsite for the second and final rounds to meet and greet the field as well as host a clinic and Q&A session for all tournament participants.
