Arlington, Va. - After two days of preparations at the Army Navy Country Club - Arlington, Team USA and Team Europe are ready to battle head to head for the 13th PING Junior Solheim Cup title.
The PING Junior Solheim Cup (PJSC) is a biennial, trans-Atlantic team match play competition featuring the 12 best female junior golfers from Europe and the United States. The competition includes six foursome matches, six four-ball matches and 12 singles matches. Scoring is based on a points system with 24 total points available over the two days of competition. One point is awarded for each match won and half a point is given to each team for matches that end in a tie. As a result, it is possible that matches may be won prior to the 18th hole. A team needs 12 ½ points to win the PJSC. Should the championship end in a tie, the team that currently holds the Cup (European team) would retain the PJSC.
The event is highlighted by the team camaraderie and spirit generated by the juniors and Team Captains. The overall match record stands at 7 United States wins (2002, 2005, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019), 4 Europe wins (2003, 2007, 2021, 2023) and 1 tie (2011).
Tomorrow begins with six four-ball matches. The four-ball matches will begin at 8:00 am ET. In four-ball each pair of golfers will play their own ball, taking the lowest score between the team. In the afternoon, they will play a foursome format where each team will take alternate shots with their ball, with the lowest score winning the hole.
The foursome match ups will be selected at 10 am ET by the captains of each team. The team leading at 10 am will have the honor of naming their first pairing.
The morning six matches are:
- Team USA - Elizabeth Rudisill and Gianna Clemente vs. Team Europe - Molly Rålin and Sara Brentcheneff
