Andrew Wilson, Superintendent at Bethpage State Park Golf Courses, was named the 2024 AJGA Superintendent of the Year for his outstanding support of junior golf. Known for going above and beyond, Wilson consistently demonstrated leadership, hospitality and a solutions-first mindset across all aspects of tournament preparation and execution. Whether it was checking in with tournament staff daily, assisting with hole locations, or ensuring course conditions were optimal, his attention to detail and genuine care for the player experience made a lasting impression. His behind-the-scenes efforts included securing equipment for event setup, lending maintenance vehicles, and overseeing off-site range maintenance for over a month leading up to competition.
Wilson’s dedication extended far beyond the course. His welcoming presence and willingness to problem-solve helped elevate the overall quality of the AJGA events held at Bethpage. He was not only a visible and encouraging presence during competition rounds, but also a trusted partner who embraced collaboration with AJGA staff. Having also been nominated in 2023, Wilson’s consistent impact over multiple seasons is a testament to his passion and professionalism, making him a deserving recipient of this year’s honor.
"Andrew is the kind of partner every tournament director hopes for. He treats our events like his own, always available, always helpful, and always welcoming. His work behind the scenes makes a huge difference, and our players and families feel it the moment they arrive."
