Top five girls to watch at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship

STEVENS POINT, WI. – For the 34th year of the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, the top-ranked female junior golfers in the world are brought together to compete over 54 holes in this quintessential all-girls Invitational.

The 2025 field for this all-girls event features 72 well-accomplished and title-holding junior golfers. There are 14 Rolex Junior All-Americans in the field and 54 AJGA champions. The field includes four seniors from the class of 2025, seven players from the class of 2026, 25 sophomores from the class of 2027, 17 freshmen (class of 2028), four eighth graders (class of 2029), and one seventh grader in the class of 2030.

As of June 15, there are eight of the top 25 players in the Rolex AJGA Rankings in the field. The top five players in the field include: No. 2 Aphrodite Deng, No. 11 Clara Ding, No. 12 Lily Peng, No. 13 Alice Ziyi Zhao and No.16 Yujie Liu.

Field Summary:

Aphrodite Deng of (Canada) Short Hills, New Jersey (Class of 2028)
Deng holds the honor of being the highest ranked junior in the field, sitting at No. 2 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. In 2023, Deng was named to the Junior-All Star Team and received a Rolex Junior All-American distinction, a year later, she was named a First-Team Rolex Junior All-American. Deng is a four-time AJGA champion with her most recent win coming at the Mizuho Americas Open just over a month ago, beyond that, she has 10 top-five finishes across her AJGA career and has finished top-13 or better in her last five AJGA events. This is Deng's first appearance in the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.

Clara Ding of White Rock, British Columbia (Class of 2029)
Ding is No. 11 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. She became a Rolex Junior All-American and a member of the AJGA Junior All-Star team for the first time in 2024. She collected wins at the 2024 AJGA Lake Charles Junior Championship and the 2024 RLX Ralph Lauren Junior Classic. In her Rolex Girls Junior Championship debut in 2024, she finished T18. She will look to top her best finish of 2025: a second place finish at The Nelly Invitational presented by Chevron.

Lily Peng of San Ramon, California (Class of 2027)
Peng, currently No. 12 in the Rolex AJGA rankings, comes into the weekend playing her fifth AJGA event of the year. With one AJGA victory under her belt, awarded at the Billy Horschel Junior Championship presented by Zurich in 2023. This is her second time playing in the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. Peng is a two-time Rolex Junior All-American.

Alice Ziyi Zhao of (China) Irvine, California (Class of 2027)
Zhao is No. 13 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. She has been named a Rolex Junior All-American in each of the last four years. She has recorded three consecutive top-10 finishes at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship, improving from ninth place in 2022 to T8 in 2023 to T6 in 2024. Zhao has recorded consecutive top-five finishes in AJGA events coming into the week, and will be in search of her first title of 2025.

Yujie Liu of Beijing, China (Class of 2028)
Liu is No. 16 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings. She has been named a Rolex Junior All-American in each of the last two years. Competing in her first AJGA event of 2025, she will look to build on a T6 finish at the 2024 Rolex Girls Junior Championship that was her best of the season. Liu was the champion of the 2023 PGA WEST Junior Championship after winning the qualifier to enter the field.
