Amelie Zalsman of St. Petersburg, Florida, leads the Girls Division after carding a 7-under-par 65 in the second round. Currently ranked No. 6 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Zalsman recorded eight birdies to take a one-shot lead into day three.
The defending champion was three shots back after the first round, opening the week with an even-par 72. Zalsman has one invitational win this season, coming at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship in June.
"I'm obviously really happy with my round today. I had to battle some tough conditions to start the day, but once I hit No. 5 I got into a good flow. I putted really well and was able to put together a nice birdie streak to end my round."
Round one leader Nikki Oh of Torrance, California, sits one shot behind Zalsman after carding a 3-under-par 69 in round two. Oh also posted a 3-under-par 69 in the first round to share the lead. Currently ranked No. 23 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, she made six birdies in round one and added another three birdies and an eagle in the second round.
Shauna Liu of Maple, Ontario, Canada, is in solo third at 3-under-par. Liu carded seven birdies in the second round to shoot 4-under-par 68. In fourth place is Alexandra Synder of Orlando, Florida, who posted an even-par 72 in round one and a 2-under-par 70 in round two for a 2-under-par total.
In a tie for fifth at 1-under-par are Rayee Feng of Short Hills, New Jersey; Amber Lee of San Diego, California; Asia Young of Bend, Oregon; and Anna Fang of San Diego, California.
Pennson Badgett of Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, claimed a one-shot lead after firing a 5-under-par 67. Currently ranked No. 15 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Badgett is seeking his first AJGA win in 2025.
Badgett entered the day five shots back but played steady golf, carding six birdies and just one bogey. He also recorded six birdies in the first round, bringing his 36-hole total to 11.
Nicholas Logis of Austin, Texas; Luke Ringkamp of Palm Desert, California; and Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, are tied for second at 5-under-par after round two. Logis, the round one leader, shot 1-over-par 73 in the second round. Ringkamp climbed 12 spots with a 4-under-par 68, while Russell, the defending champion and two-time Rolex Junior Player of the Year, carded four birdies on day two.
Rounding out the top five at 4-under-par are Sohan Patel of Weston, Florida; Dawson Lew of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Mingbo Jiang of Hangzhou, China; and Giuseppe Puebla of Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
