Stanford, CA - No. 2 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Asterisk Talley of Chowchilla, California, captured her fifth AJGA Invitational title and successfully defended her title at the Fortinet Stanford Invitational hosted by Rose Zhang. Talley earned a five-shot victory at her future collegiate home.
Talley went wire-to-wire, finishing at 9-under-par 204 for the win. She opened the tournament with a bogey-free 7-under-par 64, carding seven birdies to immediately separate herself from the field.
The Stanford commit maintained control in the second round after a 1-under-par 70. Starting on No. 10, Talley recorded two birdies on her front nine and played steady, bogey-free golf down the stretch as the leaderboard began to tighten behind her.
In rainy final-round conditions, Talley once again posted a 1-under-par 70 to close out the victory. She carded a birdie on the par-3 No. 3 and added two more on the back nine to secure the title in commanding fashion.
"It was pretty cool to play in front of my future coaches and play with the other Stanford commits out here this week. It feels good to play well at my future home."
Coming in second, Rina Kawasaki of Palo Verdes Estates, California, and Juliet Oh of Diamond Bar, California, both finished the event at 4-under-par 209 and capped off their weeks with personal best career finishes in an AJGA invitational. Kawasaki, a Rolex Junior All-American, carded 11 birdies throughout all tournament rounds and began her year in stellar fashion.
Rina Kawasaki of Palos Verdes Estates, California and Juliet Oh of Diamond Bar, California shared runner-up honors at 4-under-par 209, each recording their best career finishes in an AJGA Invitational.
Kawasaki, a Rolex Junior All-American, tallied 11 birdies across three rounds to open her season in impressive form.
Oh, a University of Pennsylvania commit and Rolex Junior All-American, surged up the leaderboard in the final round with a 3-under-par 68, one of the low rounds of the day. She also recorded 11 birdies for the week, along with an eagle on the par-5 No. 12 in the second round.
Honorine Ferry of Flower Mound, Texas, finished fourth at 3-under-par 210, earning her third career top-five finish in an AJGA Invitational. Ranked No. 5 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, Ferry looks to capitalize on the strong start to the season.
Kuree Little of Palmdale, California, rounded out the top five at 2-under-par 211, marking her highest career finish in an AJGA Invitational and her fifth overall AJGA top-five finish. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas commit entered the week ranked No. 67 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
