The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) will return to Bayou Oaks at City Park this spring for the third playing of the Ochsner Health / AJGA New Orleans Classic. The tournament has quickly established itself as a strong addition to the AJGA schedule, bringing top junior golfers to New Orleans while continuing to give back to the local community.
Ochsner Health will once again serve as title sponsor, continuing its support of the event. As Louisiana’s largest nonprofit health system, Ochsner has played an important role in helping the tournament build momentum over its first two years.
"It’s a privilege for Ochsner Health to continue as the title sponsor of this outstanding event. We’re proud to deepen our partnership with the AJGA and the Bayou District Foundation as the tournament continues to grow. This week represents more than competition; it’s an opportunity to make a lasting impact in the New Orleans community."
The championship draws a national field of junior golfers and their families to New Orleans for a week of competition at Bayou Oaks. At the same time, the event has delivered meaningful impact beyond the course, generating more than $50,000 in its first two years for the Bayou District Foundation, AJGA Foundation, and Ochsner Clinic Foundation.
As part of tournament week, the event will once again feature a Junior-Am, offering local businesses, sponsors, and community members the opportunity to play alongside AJGA juniors while supporting important charitable initiatives. The Junior-Am serves as a key fundraising component of the tournament, with proceeds benefiting the AJGA Foundation, the Bayou District Foundation and Ochsner Health initiatives. Through this event, participants not only gain a unique, behind-the-scenes experience but also help expand access to junior golf and support programs focused on education, wellness, and community development in the New Orleans area.
"It’s exciting to see the continued growth of this tournament and the impact it’s having both on and off the course. With the support of the AJGA and Ochsner Health, we’re able to further our mission and create meaningful opportunities for the Bayou District community."
The Bayou District Foundation, which operates Bayou Oaks Golf Course, continues to use the facility to support broader community efforts in housing, education, and wellness.
Bayou Oaks at City Park – South Course, located in the heart of New Orleans, serves as the host venue. Designed by Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead of Rees Jones Inc., alongside Torre Design Consortium, the course offers a layout that challenges players while remaining accessible to the public. Rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina, Bayou Oaks has become a central part of the city’s golf landscape.
"We’re proud to welcome the AJGA back to Bayou Oaks for a third year. This event has quickly become a special week for our community, and it’s rewarding to see it continue to build with the support of Ochsner Health and the Bayou District Foundation while providing a great experience for these junior golfers."
