The American Junior Golf Association has named the Billy Horschel Atlanta Classic presented by Zurich its Volunteer of the Year, recognizing a volunteer program that set the standard for supporting every aspect of an AJGA tournament.
More than 120 individuals filled 185 volunteer positions throughout tournament week. All standard volunteer positions were filled, while an additional five to 10 volunteers were on a wait list each day in case of cancellations.
"I'm honored that our event has been recognized with the Volunteer of the Year Award. While my name may be attached to the tournament, this recognition belongs to the incredible committee members and volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success. Their passion for junior golf, attention to detail, and commitment to providing a first-class experience for our players and families are what set this tournament apart. I couldn't be prouder of what this group has built together."
Volunteers played a role in nearly every part of the event. They assisted with registration and mulligan tables at tournament functions and helped with setup, including putting together yard arms and bleachers at the driving range.
That support continued on the golf course. Spotters were positioned on nearly every hole and filled divots between groups when needed. One volunteer even worked alongside the club's superintendent to drag dew and help prepare the course for play.

Volunteers also helped with tournament safety and the player experience. Evacuation homes and vehicles were set up throughout the course, and guest starters were stationed on each tee during every competitive round.
Planterra Club also recognized the volunteers for their time, donating a round of golf to anyone who completed a full volunteer shift.

The recognition is the tournament's second AJGA award in four years, another reflection of the support it has received from its committee, volunteers, sponsors and host facility.

The Volunteer of the Year award will be officially presented at this year’s Billy Horschel Atlanta Classic presented by Zurich, held August 27–30, 2026, at Planterra Club in Peachtree City, Georgia.
