Heading into the final round, Keira Shavitranuruk of Orlando, Florida, strengthened her lead in the Girls Division with a 2-over-par 74 in the second round of the AJGA Junior All-Star Invitational. After opening the tournament with a 7-under-par round, Shavitranuruk holds a five-shot advantage heading into tomorrow’s final round.
Shavitranuruk faced a more challenging second round than she did in the opening round. She began with a bogey on No. 1 but settled in with five consecutive pars as she made her way to the back nine. After finding her rhythm while navigating the windy conditions, she carded- back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 to extend her lead to four strokes heading into the final holes of the day. She is currently ranked No. 81 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and has two AJGA wins this season. Shavitranuruk is seeking her first invitational victory after competing in the event last year.
"On the back nine, I was really just trying to build some momentum. I knew a birdie could get things going, and once I made one, it gave me a lot of confidence and helped me settle into a good rhythm"
Julie Hu of Saratoga, California, Richy Kittiwatthanakul of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand, and Lillian Phee of San Diego, California, are tied for second at even par through two rounds.
Phee maintained her position on the leaderboard by carding 13 pars and a birdie on the par-4 No. 2. Hu and Kittiwatthanakul each moved up three spots on the leaderboard with 1-over-par rounds, putting themselves in contention heading into the final round.
In the Boys Division, Hudson Justus of Gainesville, Georgia, took sole possession of the lead after the second round, posting a 1-under-par round to reach 7-under-par for the tournament. Justus put together a strong round, highlighted by a colorful scorecard. Starting on the back nine, he carded birdies on Nos. 14 and 17 while also recording two bogeys, making the turn tied for the lead. On the front nine, he began to pull away, carding three additional birdies to finish with five birdies on the day. Justus is currently ranked No. 67 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings and was recently named to the 2026 Junior All-Star Team.
"Going into tomorrow, my focus is on keeping the big numbers out of play and staying committed to my game plan. I’m going to keep doing what I’ve been doing all week and hopefully achieve a similar result.”
Beckett McLaughlin of Austin, Texas, and Benjamin Vento of Rochester, Michigan, are tied for second at 4-under-par through two rounds.
McLaughlin moved up two spots on the leaderboard after carding five consecutive birdies from Nos. 16-2 and finishing with seven birdies in the round. Vento, who entered the round tied for the lead, shot a 2-over-par round but finished with two birdies over his final four holes to remain in contention heading into the final round.
