Siehl leads Girls Division heading into second round

Li and Balyan tied for Boys Division lead by one stroke

Alexia Siehl of Fort Mill, South Carolina, leads the Girls Division by two strokes after shooting 3-under-par 69 in the first round. Siehl ended her round with five birdies, including a birdie on two of her first three holes to start the round. The 2022 graduate is seeking her first AJGA victory of the 2021 season, after finishing in top five at The Lanto Junior Championship this summer and AJGA Junior at 12 Oaks this spring. The No. 100 ranked player in the Rolex AJGA Rankings is also verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin.

Thanana Kotchasanmanee of Chiangmai, Thailand, is currently in solo-second place after shooting 1-under-par 71 in the first round. The 2025 graduate had two birdies and two eagles in the round. Kotchasanmanee is coming off a second place finish last week at the Matthew NeSmith Junior Championship. She will be seeking her first-career AJGA victory this week.

Vania Simont of CDMX, Mexico, and Lindsay Yao of Whittier, California, are tied for third place after shooting even-par-72 in the round. Simont ended her round with six birdies and Yao had four birdies in the round. Both players will be seeking their first victory this week at the #GreenwoodJr.

Jiongchen Li of Qingdao, China, and Sahir Balyan of Simi Valley, California, are tied for the Boys Division lead after shooting 3-under-par-69 in the first round. Li had five birdies in the round, while Balyan had four birdies in the round. Both players were able to birdie No. 18 to share the tie for the lead. Li, who is a 2023 graduate, will be seeking his first career AJGA victory. The best finish of the 2021 season for Li came at the Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior presented by Encova Insurance where he finished fourth. Balyan, who is a 2023 graduate, will also be seeking his first career AJGA victory this week.

Asher Joseph of Melbourne, Florida, Lev Grinberg of Brasschaat, Belgium, and George Liu of Johns Creek, Georgia, are all tied for third place after shooting 2-under-par 70 in the first round. Joseph and Grinberg ended their first round with four birdies each. Liu had three birdies in the round. All three of these players will be seeking their first career AJGA victory this week at the #GreenwoodJr.
