What to Expect at an AJGA Event

Learn what to expect when playing in an AJGA event.

Tournament Registration

  • Required to attend tournament registration prior to playing in the Practice Round
  • Arrive for registration one hour and ten minutes prior to your Practice Round tee time
  • Receive tournament gifts and additional information
  • Answer basic questions regarding your travel and lodging

Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament

  • 18-hole stroke play competition for fun - typically a shamble format
  • Juniors are paired with three or four local amateurs to compete against other teams
  • A great opportunity for networking with sponsors and supporters
  • Used as a practice round
  • An opportunity to learn the course from locals
  • May have use of a golf cart during the round
  • Opportunity to play Junior-Am and Practice Round for extra course exposure
  • Award ceremony follows the conclusion of play

Practice Round

  • Takes place the day prior to the first round
  • Sign up for a tee time via the tournament website up to one week prior to the day of the Practice Round
  • Arrive to the starting tee 10 minutes prior to tee time for information
  • Equipment surveys will be conducted on the starting tee or driving range prior to the Practice Round

Equipment Surveys

  • Conducted by AJGA staff to learn about the equipment you use
  • Data helps us track trends and provide information to our sponsors
  • Conducted on the starting tee or on the driving range prior to the practice round

Practice Facilities

  • A player's time on the driving range will start one hour prior to their tee time, regardless of round
  • Allowed 30 minutes of warm-up on the driving range followed by 30 minutes on the short game area
  • Check in with AJGA staff at the driving range upon arrival
  • Do not arrive onsite more than one hour prior to your tee time
Driving Range Check-in

Starting

  • Starting notes sent via e-mail the night before the round
  • Hole locations and other important documents posted on tournament webpage
  • Arrive at the starting tee 10 minutes before your tee time
  • Download the Golf Genius app and have it open prior to arriving at the first tee
  • Information will be given about the course and round as well as the GGID for scoring
  • AJGA staff will announce your name and hometown prior to you teeing off
Starting at an AJGA Event

Scoring

  • Players will enter scores into the Golf Genius App for themselves and the player they are marking for after each hole
  • Following the round, scoring will be conducted in the designated area with AJGA staff
  • Make sure all scores are entered in the Golf Genius app prior to arriving in the scoring area
  • Bring a mask to the scoring area and wear it over your mouth and nose
  • Verify your scores and the scores of the player you are marking for in the Golf Genius app
  • AJGA staff will verify scores and go over any announcements
  • Scores are official once players leave the designated scoring area

Awards Ceremony

  • Conducted following the final putt in the Boys and Girls Divisions
  • Top-three girls plus ties and top-five boys plus ties receive trophies
  • Low final round prizes will be given at certain events
  • Champion will be prepped and will deliver a champion's speech
  • Tournament Director will offer thoughts and thank yous
  • Following the Awards Ceremony photos will be taken of anyone receiving an award
