AJGA Junior dies in car crash

It is with a heavy heart that the AJGA reports the passing of Bradley Johnson.

Johnson, 17, of Birmingham, Ala., died Saturday, March 25 at the scene of a two-car accident in Shelby County, Ala., The Birmingham News reported.

According to police reports, Johnson was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles involved in the crash. There were passengers in the car with Johnson. They were taken to the University of Alabama-Birmingham Hospital.

Johnson was a 2005 third-team Rolex Junior All-American after a summer that saw him finish runner-up to Kevin Tway at the U.S. Junior Amateur and 10th at the Rolex Tournament of Champions.

He was most recently named The Birmingham News player of the week March 17. The Spain High School junior carded a 4-under-par 140, claiming medalist honors at the Joe King Memorial Classic.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a scholarship fund to be established through the Southern Junior Golf Tour. Please send all donation to Todd Thompson, SJGT, P.O. Box 3933, Auburn, Ala., 36831.
