Application Deadline: Puerto Rico Junior Open

Apply now

In 2012, Edward Figueroa competed in his first TOUR start after winning the Puerto Rico Junior Open sponsored by Sport Link.
The American Junior Golf Association will return to Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, Jan. 18-21, for the Puerto Rico Junior Open sponsored by Sport Link, and for the third consecutive year, the champion will earn a sponsor’s exemption into the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open presented by seepuertorico.com. The tournament will be held on the Championship Course at Trump International Golf Club, home of the PGA TOUR event.

The tournament field will consist of 72 boys and the tournament application deadline is Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m. ET. The tournament is the only AJGA Open event to offer a PGA TOUR exemption to its champion.

“The AJGA is excited to return to Puerto Rico for the third year,” said Jason Ross, vice president of tournament development. “With the support of the Puerto Rico Golf Association and the Puerto Rico Open, we can once again provide a unique experience for AJGA members to compete on a championship venue.”

In 2012, Edward Figueroa of Naples, Fla., was victorious, earning his second AJGA title and first PGA TOUR start.

“It [meant] so much in so many ways because my family is from San Juan and we visited them every day,” said Figueroa, who posted 72-74, one stroke shy of making the cut.

Designed by PGA Professional Tom Kite, Trump International Golf Club is made up of two 18-hole championship courses - the Championship and the International. The Championship Course extends along the Atlantic Ocean and offers views of the Caribbean National Rainforest of El Yunque.

The PGA TOUR selected Trump International Golf Club as one of the top two "Best On-Site Presentations,” and the Championship Course was ranked the 19th “Best Tour Course You Can Play” by Golfweek in 2010.
Take advantage of the chance to play in Puerto Rico and compete for a sponsor’s exemption into a PGA TOUR event. Visit the AJGA Player Center to apply to the Puerto Rico Junior Open before the application closes at 5 p.m. ET, on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
