Junior Round-up

Jane Rah of Torrance, Calif., and Sydnee Michaels of Temecula, Calif., will compete this week in the LPGA's Safeway Classic presented by Pepsi. Rah earned her way into the event Monday after taking top honors at the Monday qualifier after shooting even-par 72. Michaels had earned a Sponsors Exemption into the event earlier this year.

Sydnee Michaels

Rah and Michaels have had great success in their AJGA careers recently. Michaels, who will attend UCLA in the fall, was a member of the victorious Canon Cup West Team. In 2005, she won the Pacific Northwest International Junior presented by Jeff Troesch and the Mission Hills Desert Junior. Rah, who will enter her sophomore year of high school this fall, won the CORE Realty Holdings Junior Championship earlier this year. It was her second AJGA victory. Rah was also a two-time member of the Canon Cup West Team. She also earned 2005 first-team Rolex Junior All-America honors.

The Safeway Classic presented by Pepsi will be held at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore., Aug. 18-20.
