Each year, the AJGA hires around 100 interns to work in various roles within the organization. During the spring and the summer, the traveling internship looks to hire young men and women who want to work in sports operations or communications. During the summer, there are additional in-house internship opportunities in the association's headquarters, in Braselton, Georgia.
The spring internship starts in early March and runs for eight weeks, ending in early May. While on the road, there are two positions available. Communications interns are responsible for a multitude of media related duties. From executing social media plans to conducting interviews, the communications internship provides a glimpse into many sides of sports communications.
The operations internship largely revolves around general set-up, execution and break-down. Operations interns receive a lot of experience in running golf events that can be translated over to other sports. Both internships also require on-course rules officiating as a job responsibility.
In 2023, 24 interns joined the AJGA to run eight weeks of events. Separated into three teams, the spring interns covered events that had the likes of Justin Thomas and Will Lowery as hosts. They worked in front of major sponsors such as TaylorMade and Neuropeak Pro. Trained in just one week, these interns were sent out to represent the AJGA in front of these major players.
