Champions Report: March 30, 2021

A look at your most recent champions from last weekend's AJGA events.
Melena Barrientos - KJ Choi Texas.png

Melena Barrientos of Plano, Texas, earned her third AJGA Champion title within the last 12 months this weekend at the KJ Choi Foundation Texas Junior Championship presented by Mediheal. The 2021 senior won with a 1-under-par 143 tournament total on her home course - Stonebriar Country Club, the Dye Course. Barrientos was the only girl to finish the tournament under-par. She signed a National Letter of Intent to Clemson University.

Zach Heffernan - KJ Choi Texas.png

Zach Heffernan of Boerne, Texas, took the Boys Division title at the KJ Choi Foundation Texas Junior Championship presented by Mediheal with a 3-under-par 141. Heffernan's win this weekend was the first of his five-year AJGA career. The Baylor commit won wire-to-wire shooting a 3-under-par 69 first round and maintained that on the final round.

Preston Stout 2021 AJGA Carolina Trace Junior

Preston Stout of Dallas, Texas, captured his first AJGA title at the AJGA Carolina Trace Junior hosted at Carolina Trace Country Club on the Lake Course. The 2023 sophomore finished the 54-hole event with an even-par 216 to win.

Sara Im of Duluth, Georgia, claimed her sixth AJGA title. The 2023 sophomore won with a tournament total 1-over-par 217. Im who is currently No. 30 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings now has three wins within the last 12 months.
