To round out 2023, AJGA alumna, Tillie Claggett of (Canada) The Woodlands, Texas won the Patriot All-America Invitational at The Wigwam - Gold Course in Litchfield Park, Arizona. Claggett fired off a tournament record with her low final round of 9-under-par 61 to take home the win.
In her opening round, Claggett started off strong with four birdies on the front nine on Nos. 3, 4, 6 and 7. It wasn't until No. 8 when she found her first bogey of the day. She finished the round at 2-under-par 68. Moving into round two, Claggett's day started a little rocky carding bogeys on Nos. 2 and 8. However, her round was highlighted by two consecutive birdies on the back nine and an eagle on No. 18 to finish the day. In the final round, the pressure was no match for Claggett. She shot a bogey-free round and fired off five birdies on the front nine. After that, Claggett followed up an impressive front nine with an equally impressive back nine and shot four additional birdies to card a course-record of 9-under-par 61.
In her junior golf career, the current Vanderbilt University sophomore played in many AJGA events from 2017 to 2020. Claggett claimed seven top-10 AJGA finishes including a co-medalist title at the 2018 Qualifier for the Insperity Invitational / Patrick Reed AJGA Junior Championship.
