Tyler Strafaci of Davie, Florida, competed in his first Masters Tournament after securing an invitation by winning the 2020 U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes. He became the second person in his family to compete at Augusta National Golf Club after his grandfather in 1938. As one of three amateurs in the 2021 field, Strafaci was paired with 2020 Masters champion Dustin Johnson and Lee Westwood in his first and second rounds. He will also compete on the U.S. Walker Cup team in May.
Strafaci was a 2015 Rolex Junior All-American with eight top-10 finishes in his AJGA career. His best was T2 at the 2016 Puerto Rico Junior Open presented by EaglesDream Golf Academy.
Grace Summerhays of Scottsdale, Arizona, won the Cactus Tour's Longbow Championship. Summerhays and Kylee Choi of Murrieta, California, were tied after 54 holes at 2-under-par 214. Summerhays went on to win on the first playoff hole with a birdie, while Choi had par. Summerhays eagled the 474-yard par 5 before making the turn to give her an advantage and spot in the playoff. Summerhays recently finished in the top 10 at the PING Heather Farr Classic with three rounds of par or better.
Charles "Ollie" Osborne of Reno, Nevada, filled the second amateur position in the field at Augusta National Golf Club. The SMU junior received an invite to the Masters Tournament after finishing runner-up to Strafaci at the 2020 U.S. Amateur at Bandon Dunes. Osborne's first and second-round pairing included 1992 Masters champion Fred Couples and Francesco Molinari. Osborne was a 2017 Rolex Junior All-American and two-time member of the AJGA Scholastic Honor Roll. He also won the 2017 Under Armour® / Jordan Spieth Championship presented by American Campus Communities.
Avery Zweig of McKinney, Texas, won the Bridlewood Junior Invitational with a three-round tournament total of 9-under-par 207. After shooting a first-round score of 75, Zweig battled back and carded back-to-back rounds of 6-under-par 66 as the low-rounds of the tournament. This is her second win of the year, after winning the 2021 Diamond Resorts ANNIKA Invitational presented by Rolex . Zweig has yet to place outside the top three in AJGA events this year, with runner-up and third place finishes in March.
