Joaquin Niemann of Santiago, Chile, is on a roll. The AJGA Sergio Garcia Foundation Junior Championship in Davenport, Florida marks the third consecutive tournament Niemann has won, including the AJGA TaylorMade-adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook and the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley. After shooting 7-over-par 79 in the first round, Niemann shot a 5-under-par 67 to send him to a playoff against Jorge Villar of Mexico. As the tournament host Sergio Garcia looked on, Niemann would win the playoff in just one hole with an overall score of 2-over-par 146.

On May 7th, Stephanie Su of South Barrington, Illinois, finished 5th overall in the Player’s Challenge #1 at Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein, Illinois, with a final score of 21-over-par 165. Su, a 14-year-old, improved by nine strokes in the second round and was the youngest to finish in the top five. She has now finished in the top ten in two consecutive tournaments; including MAJGT Shepherd’s Crook Open.

Beck Burnette | Chattahoochee Junior Classic

May 7th marked a special day for Beck Burnette of Blairsville, Georgia, who finished runner-up in the Boys Division of the Chattahoochee Junior Classic in Gainesville, Georgia. He was the only player in the field, male or female, to shoot both rounds under par. Burnette’s last tournament appearance was at the AJGA Junior All-Star at Lost Springs presented by Visit Bentonville.

Euna Han of Coquitlam, British Columbia, ran away from the field at the 2017 MJT Lindsay Kenney Classic / IMG Academy Jr. World Qualifier at Pagoda Ridge Golf Club in Langley, British Columbia. Shooting under par in both rounds, Han finished 17 strokes ahead of the second-place finisher in her age group. The next closest competitor of any age group was still nine strokes back, as she shot a 13-under-par 131.
