The AJGA is proud to recognize the Justin Thomas Junior Championship with the 2024 Volunteer Award, honoring the dedicated team at Harmony Landing Country Club and the community of Goshen, Kentucky, for delivering one of the most organized, welcoming, and memorable tournament experiences of the season.
Each year, the AJGA presents awards to tournaments with the best individual hospitality, Junior-Am fundraising, charitable giving, and volunteer base. Awards are also given to events with outstanding media and social media engagement. Additionally, the AJGA honors the year’s most outstanding golf professional, superintendent, and golf course executive, as well as the most game-changing event, best new event, best Preview Series tournament, best Ninja Junior All-Star Series tournament, best Invitational, and overall tournament of the year. Tournament awards for the 2024 season will be presented on-site during the 2025 tournament.
The event is hosted at Harmony Landing Country Club, where Tournament Host Justin Thomas grew up playing, and his father served as Master Golf Professional for over 30 years. Since 2017, the community has raised more than $800,000 in charitable contributions and earned 13 AJGA awards, a reflection of their unmatched commitment to junior golf. The club and community cherish this event, making it one of the most special stops on the AJGA calendar.
Last year, 78 of the nation’s top junior golfers teed it up in Justin Thomas’ home state, supported by a volunteer network that embodied the values of service and community. With energy and precision, the Harmony Landing staff, club members, and local volunteers created a championship atmosphere from the moment players arrived.
Winning our 13th award in only 9 years is a tremendous honor. It’s a testament to the work of the many volunteers who make this event possible. Any award we receive should be credited to the volunteers and sponsors who continue to support our event. We are so fortunate to have a dedicated team who has been with us from day one, with little to no changes, which speaks to their commitment and passion for making this tournament so special.
Each day, more than 40 volunteers helped power tournament operations, managing shuttles, live scoring, hydration, spotter assignments, and timing stations. Many have supported the event for multiple years, creating a consistent, reliable environment that reflects a deep investment in junior golf.
Whether greeting players and families at registration, coordinating transportation, or managing logistics behind the scenes, volunteers approached every task with enthusiasm and care. From the first tee shot to the final handshake, their efforts ensured the tournament ran smoothly and felt special for every player.
The Justin Thomas Junior Championship is a model of what an AJGA event can be when a community fully embraces the experience. The volunteers, committee, and Harmony Landing staff consistently go above and beyond, and their commitment to excellence is a major reason why this tournament continues to receive national recognition. It’s a privilege to return each year and work alongside such a passionate and dedicated team.
AJGA interns and staff were also welcomed as part of the team. Interns were hosted in local homes, provided with meals, and treated to group dinners throughout the week. The strong sense of hospitality extended beyond the course, with many volunteers staying in touch with AJGA staff and interns long after the event concluded.
The week was a celebration of community and service, with volunteers playing a vital role in every aspect of the tournament. The Justin Thomas Junior Championship continues to be a highlight on the AJGA schedule, not just because of its namesake, but because of the people who bring it to life.
The AJGA recognizes and appreciates the work of the Justin Thomas Junior Championship volunteers, as well as all volunteers at events throughout the year. Information about volunteer opportunities can be found on the “Get Involved” page of the AJGA website.
The Justin Thomas Junior Championship will return to Harmony Landing Country Club from July 29–August 1, 2025, with the same commitment to excellence and a volunteer team that leads the way.
