2013 HP Scholastic Junior All-Americans - Boys Team

Franklin Huang, Poway, Calif. (2014)

Huang, a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School, scored a 2220 on the SAT. He carries a 4.258 GPA .Huang contributes to the San Diego community by staying involved with multiple projects. Huang’s best finish in 2013 was a tie for fifth at the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic hosted by Longbow Golf Club.

Andrew McKinney, Danville, Ky. (2014)
A senior at Danville High School, McKinney ranks second in his class of 117 on the strength of a 4.91 weighted GPA. As a member of the Junior States of America (JSA), McKinney has served the mayor of the Southern Interior District and helped conduct an annual Veteran’s Day assembly. McKinney scored a 32 on the ACT and volunteered his time to C-SPAN as a social media contributor during the United States Vice Presidential debate at Centre College. In 2013, McKinney posted his career-best AJGA finish at the PNC Bank Junior Championship presented by London & Laurel County where he tied for third.
Mitchell Meissner, San Antonio, Texas (2014)
Meissner, a senior at Alamo Heights High School, is ranked second in his class of 343. He achieved a 2220 on the SAT and carries a 104.98 GPA on the weighted 100-point scale. As a member of the Young Men’s Service League (YMSL), Meissner has assisted and served those in need in his San Antonio community through work with Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society and the Ronald McDonald House. In addition to his work with YMSL, Meissner has served with various school and golf organizations to raise money for charities. In 2013, Meissner, who has given a verbal commitment to Rice University, recorded four top-15 showings in AJGA competition, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the Preseason Junior at Cimarron Hills.
Jackson Moss, New Albany, Ohio (2014)
A senior at New Albany High School, Moss boasts a weighted GPA of 4.205 and an ACT score of 33. Moss volunteers with the New Albany Special Olympics golf team where he mentors a child with autism. Additionally, Moss is a part of the homework support team and volunteers for the local Hand in Hands with Haiti group. In 2013, Moss posted a career-best finish at the Under Armour® / Jeff Overton Championship hosted by Otter Creek where he placed T5.
William Register, Burlington, N.C. (2014)
Register, a senior at Walter M. Williams High School, is a two-time AJGA champion after winning the Exide Technologies Junior Open presented by Mizuno and the IZOD AJGA Championship, both in 2013. He is currently No. 16 in the Polo Golf Rankings and represented the East at the Wyndham Cup in July. Academically, Register holds a 4.875 weighted GPA, which is third in his class of 238 students. Register, a member of the National Honor Society, raised more than $12,000 in his Birdies for Ragan campaign, which benefited a family friend suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. At his high school he is a member of organizations that mentor elementary school students and help freshmen become acclimated with their new school.
Sam Rosenberg,  Dallas, Texas (2014)
A senior at Jesuit College Preparatory School, Rosenberg ranked second in his class of 280. He scored a 2130 on the SAT and carries a 100.10 on the 100-point weighted GPA scale. In addition to his membership in the National Honor Society, Rosenberg served in his school’s ambassador program, providing hospitality, tours and information to visitors. He currently mentors freshman students through the Big Brother program, helping new students adjust to high school. In August, Rosenberg, No. 133 in the Polo Golf Rankings, tied for second at the Goodman Networks Junior at Timarron, his highest career AJGA finish.
Michael Sharp, Kendallville, Ind. (2014)
A senior at East Noble High School, Sharp scored a 2000 on his SAT and carries a weighted GPA of 4.192. The Michigan State verbal commit is ranked eighth in his class of 341 and stays active in his community as a member of the Athletic Leadership Council and First Christian Church Youth Group. Sharp finished T8 at the 2013 AJGA Stonehenge Junior Open, earning his first top-10 and career-best finish.
Corey Shaun, Encinatas, Calif. (2014)
Shaun, a senior at Torrey Pines High School, has accumulated 120 volunteer hours at the Golden Dragon Institute where he assists students with academic assignments. He has a weighted GPA of 4.09 and scored a 2070 on the SAT.  Shaun has won three AJGA tournaments, most recently the 2013 AJGA Junior Challenge at Oak Valley Country Club. He is currently ranked No. 35 in Polo Golf Rankings and has verbally committed to UCLA.
Nathan Tenpas, Chevy Chase, Md. (2014)
Tenpas, currently No. 99 in the Polo Golf Rankings, took home a fifth-place finish at the 2013 CorseMax / Philadelphia Runner Junior in addition to two more top-15 finishes in AJGA competition. Currently a senior at Bethesda- Chevy Chase High School, Tenpas carries a weighted GPA of 4.74 and has achieved an ACT score of 35 and a PSAT score of 232. As a member of the National Honor Society, Tenpas helps plan meetings and activities, and tutors other students in chemistry and math. Tenpas also tutors students in all levels of math with Peer-to-Peer Tutoring & “TAP” Time for Academic Performance. 
Carter Thompson, Tallahassee, Fla. (2014)
A senior at Leon High School, Thompson is currently No. 40 in the Polo Golf Rankings. He recorded his best career AJGA finish in 2013 with a third-place showing at the AJGA Junior at Tedesco. In the classroom, Thompson carries a 4.52 weighted GPA and is seventh in his class of 440 students. His work in the community includes participating in St. Jude Children’s Hospital “Birdies for a Cause” and Habitat for Humanity. Thompson is verbally committed to play college golf at Florida State University next fall. 
Jens Verhey, Reno, Nev. (2014)
A senior at Bishop Manogue Catholic High School, Verhey opened the 2013 season with his first AJGA victory at the PING Phoenix Junior at ASU Karsten. He went on to finish fourth at the AJGA Stonehenge Junior Open. Academically, Verhey scored a 2140 on the SAT and carries a weighted GPA of 4.18, which is fourth in his class of 146. At No. 80 in the Polo Golf Rankings, Verhey has verbally committed to Notre Dame. He is the founder and president of Manogue Minors, a volunteer music ensemble group that visits hospitals and retirement homes, and is a top-30 fundraiser with the AJGA’s Leadership Links program, supporting children’s cancer research.
Jackson Wendling, Effingham, Ill. (2015)
A junior at Effingham High School, Wendling is the 2013 winner of the HP Scholastic Junior All-American essay contest with a piece titled “A Great Ride.” Wendling, who boasts a 3.87 GPA, is active in his community junior sports initiatives. Wendling serves as the Effingham High School class of 2015 treasurer. His best showing of the year came at the Bass Pro Shops / Payne Stewart Junior Championship where he collected his second top-10 finish of the season and tied for fourth.
