For Andrew and Theodore Lieu, junior golf has always been about more than competition. From local prep tours to high school events and American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments, the game has played a major role in shaping who they are both on and off the course.

Now, the brothers are giving back through Swing High Golf, a Dallas-based nonprofit founded in early 2025 with a mission to connect younger golfers with high school mentors who can help guide them through the challenges of the game and beyond.

The idea for Swing High Golf came from Andrew’s experience growing up in the sport and navigating the junior golf landscape. This inspired him to create a program that could provide younger players with the kind of mentorship and support he once wished for. What began as an idea shared with his family ultimately led to the creation of the nonprofit, with Andrew and Theodore leading efforts to recruit mentors, plan events and build relationships within their community.

"Over the years, I’ve had plenty of ‘wouldn’t it be great if…’ moments. At times it would have helped to have an older sibling or someone who had already been through what I was facing."

While many organizations in golf focus on instruction or competition, Swing High Golf centers on mentorship. As current junior golfers, Andrew and Theodore are able to relate to younger players in a unique way. They offer guidance through shared experiences like balancing school and tournaments, handling pressure and working through both success and failure.

Since launching, Swing High Golf has hosted events, organized small group sessions and paired mentors with younger players in the Dallas area. Through these efforts, the focus remains on creating meaningful connections and helping mentees grow not just as golfers, but as individuals.

Swing High Golf recently completed its first fundraiser and has plans to expand its reach throughout 2026, with the long-term goal of bringing the program to more communities. As the nonprofit continues to develop, its mission remains consistent: to use the game of golf as a platform for mentorship, connection and personal growth.
