It’s moving week at the American Junior Golf Association.
The AJGA opened doors to its third Regional Office in Dallas, Texas, just a few days after the second was established in California. The new Lone Star state office will house AJGA staffer Darren Nelson, who oversees the South Central region.
As a part of the program established in 2005, Regional Directors provide consistency and promote the AJGA’s mission in each of five geographic regions of the country. While the AJGA’s national headquarters is located in Braselton, Ga., approximately an hour northeast of Atlanta, the high demand for Regional Directors to travel within their respective states posed a unique need for local offices.
“Since its inception, our Regional Director program has allowed us to better serve our local members, sponsors and host facilities,” said Jason Etzen, executive vice president of corporate partnerships. “Opening Regional Offices has allowed us to elevate that service even higher.”
The AJGA’s first Regional Office was opened in Chicago in 2006 where Midwest Regional Director Matt Larson operates. The recently-opened second office in Palm Desert, Calif., is now home to West Regional Director Larry Berroya.
The South Central Regional office will be located inside the headquarters of the Texas Golf Association which also houses the First Tee of Dallas, The Club Managers Association of America – Lone Star Chapter and the Texas Alliance of Recreational Organizations.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be more centrally located in Dallas and have easier access to our stakeholders in the region,” Nelson said. “The Texas Golf Association has been promoting the game of golf since 1906 and we are very excited about partnering with them.”
Executive Director Rob Addington said the TGA was excited to host the new AJGA office, which will serve the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
“The synergy created by all of these organizations serving the game is a very positive atmosphere and to add the premiere national junior association to the mix, will only assist in better serving all levels and ages of golfers in our state,” Addington said.
